Music Lessons Print

Small Group Music lessons are available for children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6).

Currently, lessons are offered in the following instruments:

  • Violin
  • Brass
  • Woodwind – includes: Clarinet, Flute and Saxophone
  • Guitar

Music Tuition is offered by the school on the following conditions:

  • Tuition fees are paid termly, in advance, for a minimum of 30 lessons per year.

  • The charge for the current academic year will be £57.50 per term for group lessons.

  • The pupil must remain in the tuition group for a minimum of one year.  (Our school has to pay the County a year’s fees in advance so a commitment in the Autumn Term has to last for the whole of the academic year.)

  • There will be a charge of £20 or £30 (depending on the instrument) per term, payable in advance, directly to Hampshire Music Service (HMS) if your child has the use of a school instrument.  All instruments are hired directly from HMS and all queries should be directed to them and not to the school.

  • In the instance where there is an INSET day your child is still welcome to have their lesson in school and we will contact you on these occasions to confirm if the lessons are going ahead.

The timetable and groups for each academic year are sorted out during the summer term, ready for September.  Mrs Christine White liaises with parents and organises taster lessons for children who are interested in taking up an instrument.

Places for new pupils are subject to availability and to the discretion of the teacher responsible for each instrument, as our peripatetic teachers have a limited amount of time available, and need to ensure that their timetable is realistic and workable, meeting the needs of all pupils involved.

If you think your child would be interested in having Music lessons at school, please contact Mrs Christine White in the school office.
