Welcome to Andrews’ Endowed CE Primary School, a cornerstone of education and community in Hampshire for over three centuries. Founded in 1719 by Thomas Andrews, our school stands as a testament to his vision of providing quality education to the children of Holybourne and surrounding areas.
The Legacy of Thomas Andrews
In November 1719, Thomas Andrews, a local philanthropist, left a significant endowment in his will to establish a school in Holybourne. His foresight and generosity laid the foundation for what would become one of the oldest primary schools in Hampshire. While the exact timeline of the school’s establishment from the endowment is not entirely clear, it is believed that the school building was purposely built a few years later, solidifying Andrews’ enduring legacy.
A Family Affair: Benefactors and Community
At Andrews’ Endowed CE Primary School, we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and familial bonds. Throughout its history, the school has been fortunate to receive support from various benefactors, each contributing to its growth and development. These benefactors, whether through financial donations, volunteerism, or advocacy, have played a vital role in shaping the school into what it is today.
The School as Family
Just as Thomas Andrews envisioned the school as a place of learning and growth for the children of Holybourne, we continue to uphold his values and ideals. At Andrews’ Endowed CE Primary School, we consider ourselves not just a school but a family. Our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic children form a close-knit community where everyone is valued and encouraged to thrive.
